Why Alderhurst.
Built in five layers, not shortcuts.
Every Alderhurst roof follows the same sequence, deck to shingles, installed by crews who've done it thousands of times.
The system.
Five layers, installed in order.
-
01
Deck
Existing sheathing checked board by board. Soft or delaminated sections are cut out and replaced before anything goes down on top.
-
02
Underlayment
A synthetic underlayment across the full deck, the roof's first line of defense while the rest of the work is underway.
-
03
Ice & water shield
Self-adhered membrane at eaves, valleys and penetrations: the places water backs up and shingles alone can't hold it.
-
04
Flashing
Formed and set at every valley, wall and chimney. The detail work that actually keeps water out, not just the shingles on top of it.
-
05
Shingles
Installed to the pattern set for the roof's pitch and exposure, not a shortcut nailing pattern to save an afternoon.
The details.
Where roofs actually fail.
-
Valley
A roof valley with open metal flashing. -
Hip
A roof hip with capped shingles. -
Dormer
A dormer wall with step flashing. -
Low-slope transition
A low-slope section transitioning to membrane roofing.
Crews & standards.
Our own crews. No subcontracted labor, no rotating faces mid-job.
-
In-house crews
Six crews, trained and employed by Alderhurst, not subcontracted out.
